Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The 11th Hour” opens today in Los Angeles and New York! The film is a feature length documentary that gives an honest yet frightening account of our Earth’s current condition and explores the causes of just how we got here. But more than that, the film offers hope by highlighting the fact that we still have a chance to make a difference and heal the damage that has been done. This film will force you to be honest with yourself about what we’ve done to our planet, but it will also give you a better understanding about what we can do to begin repairing the damage. Life as we know it depends on the changes that we make today. Please support this film and do what you can to help save our planet.

The BlogCatalog Community is sponsoring a challenge today to raise awareness for organ donation. This issue, although it involves a very personal decision, is incredibly important to the lives of many people across the world.

Across the United States, 19 people die each day waiting for transplants that can’t take place because of the shortage of donated organs. There are more than 170,000 people waiting for an organ transplant in the United States and Europe combined. Even more staggering, there are 2 million people waiting in China and Africa does not currently have a system in place to accurately calculate the number of people in need.

Organ donation is truly the gift of life. One organ and tissue donor has the ability to save or improve the lives of as many as 50 people. During the tragic loss of a loved one, many organ donor families have found some solace in knowing that their dearly departed loved ones have managed to help others even in death.
