Greenpeace proves every day that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. It was a group of thoughtful, committed citizens that came together in 1971 to create Greenpeace. That was more than 30 years ago, and in that time, Greenpeace has changed the world and they continue to make the world a better place. Greenpeace is full of committed activists and supporters have come together to ban commercial whaling, convince the world’s leaders to stop nuclear testing, protect Antarctica, and so much more. World Wildlife Fund’s mission is the conservation of nature. Using the best available scientific knowledge and advancing that knowledge where they can, they work to preserve the diversity and abundance of life on Earth and the health of ecological systems by:
- protecting natural areas and wild populations of plants and animals, including endangered species;
- promoting sustainable approaches to the use of renewable natural resources; and
- promoting more efficient use of resources and energy and the maximum reduction of pollution.
Their website is jammed pack full of information on conservation efforts, endangered species, and how to get involved. It also has contains an amazing collection of beautiful pictures, and fun stuff like games, free e-cards, and free wallpaper. It’s a must see site!
